UGLYBLACKWORK, who made a name for himself in recent years as designer for bands such as Amenra, Full of Hell and Portrayal Of Guilt, now presents his first ever stand-alone collection of works titled “Fleischeslust”.
Just as the Title (German: desire of the flesh) suggests, the focus here is on an almost sacralized fascination with the forbidden and the perverse. On roughly 20 pages, selected BDSM and pulp imagery is blended with ornamental aesthetics and text elements in the artist‘s classic collage and xerox alteration style. The resulting impression reminds of the the motivations of post-industrial pioneers such as Throbbing Gristle or Merzbow in its search for deeper meaning, hidden potentials and rare beauty in the macabre fringes of human experience, namely degradation, domination and the transgression of boundaries.
